FOREWORD

FOR THOSE WHO VALUE PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS

This site is about Primary School children. As we enter the second decade of the 21st century, we appreciate that they have very few  advocates and, since they are compelled to attend school,  they are trapped. They and their teachers are generally neglected when it comes to recognition and support.  The ordinary state school pupil and teacher have little  say in the conduct of primary schooling; and apart from the parents of their pupils, have very few influential friends.

First-hand experiences over a few decades have helped me to develop the design for a structure that will certainly work for the better. I commend the design to you on behalf of our children at school. I’d appreciate comment.

Educational issues are  notorious for their repetition. The bitter Standards Debate through the 1970s and the  Minimal Competency Movementthrough the 80s are instances. We older teachers failed miserably to teach present day politicians and their eminence grise that they were supposed to learn from history; not repeat it.

Through this website, I have worked around genotypical issues and woven them into a fair-dinkum vision of primary schooling, the most important period of any person’s life of learning.

Yes…This is my view of things, told in an uncluttered direct manner, that comes from the past but remains pertinent for the first few decades of this 21st Century.  I hope that you can tolerate my primary school bias. My strong belief is that it is the greatest invention that mankind has ever devised. It’s got itself into a real mess, but it can be fixed….. [see A Vision of Schooling]
