Go on to sleep now little grader of mine,<\/p>\n

The test is tomorrow but you\u2019ll do just fine.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Reading and Maths; forget all the rest.<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t need to know what is not on the test.<\/p>\n

\n

Each box that you tick on each test that you take,<\/p>\n

Remember your teachers; their jobs are at stake.<\/p>\n

Your score is their score, but don\u2019t get all stressed;<\/p>\n

They never teach anything \u00a0not on the test.<\/p>\n

\n

The school board is faced with \u2018No Child Left behind\u2019,<\/p>\n

With rules but no funding; they\u2019re caught in a bind;<\/p>\n

So Music and Art and the things you love best<\/p>\n

Are not in the school \u2019cos they\u2019re not on the test<\/p>\n

\n

Sleep, Sleep and as you progress,<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll learn there\u2019s a lot that is not on the test.<\/p>\n

\n

Debate is a skill that is useful to know<\/p>\n

Unless you\u2019re in Congress or talk-radio;<\/p>\n

Where Shouting and Spouting and Spewing are blessed,<\/p>\n

As rational discourse was not on the test.<\/p>\n

\n

Thinking\u2019s important; it\u2019s good to know how.<\/p>\n

Someday you\u2019ll learn to, but someday\u2019s not now.<\/p>\n

Go on to sleep now, you\u2019ll need your rest.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t think about thinking; it\u2019s not on the test.<\/p>\n
